Our Team

Matt Campbell is a Principal Owner of General Mechanical and has been with the company since 2001. Educated as a Mechanical Engineer, Matt leads the Mechanical Division and brings over two decades of field and management experience to industrial and commercial projects. His expertise spans system design, planning, and execution, and is known for strong, steady leadership in every aspect of his work.  Matt also serves as the Vice President on the board of the MCA of Western Washington, is the current Local 26 Chair for the bargaining committee, is a Contractor Trustee for the Western Washington Plumbers and Pipefitters Pension, and has served as a contractor representative assisting and monitoring the UA ASME Weld program.  Outside of work, he enjoys golfing, camping, and spending time with his family.

Stephen Hoover is a Principal Owner at General Mechanical and has been with the company since 2006. As a third-generation employee, he brings a deep-rooted commitment to the company’s values and long-term success. With an education background in Mechanical Engineering, Stephen leads the Structural and Civil Division, applying his hands-on experience in construction with the perspective of an engineer. He’s known for his practical leadership, attention to detail, and ability to deliver safe, high-quality results. Outside of work, Stephen enjoys family life, church involvement, and working on various home projects.

Eric Martin plays a key role in the operations of the Structural & Civil Division at General Mechanical. With an MBA and a strong background in organizational leadership, Eric excels at business development, preconstruction, and mentoring. He is known for building high-performing teams and fostering a culture of integrity, efficiency, and growth. Outside of work, Eric enjoys family time, church involvement, volunteering, golfing, and camping.

Adam Smith is the Chief Financial Officer at General Mechanical and a minority owner. As a CPA, Adam provides strategic financial leadership and oversight, ensuring the company remains fiscally strong and positioned for long-term growth. He supports risk management, financial planning, and operational decision-making across all divisions. Adam also serves as a Contractor Trustee for the Local 26 Educational Development Trust. Adam previously served as President and board member of the Puget Sound Chapter of Construction Financial Management Association. Outside of work, Adam enjoys spending quality time with his family and brings a thoughtful, grounded perspective to the leadership team.
